Welcome Geobloggers!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our brand new project!

The purpose of this blog is to share news related to the three states that are part of the south pacific zone in Mexico: Guerrero, Oaxaca and Chiapas.

This area covers 11.9% of the national territory and has the Sierra Madre del Sur, Sierra Madre Oriental and Chiapas as part of its relief, as well as being prone to volcanic and tectonic activity. Likewise, there are plateaus, central valleys of Oaxaca, and the plain of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec; and due to its rivers, the area is a good generator of hydroelectric energy.

The main economic centers are Acapulco, Salina Cruz, Tapachula and Oaxaca due to their constant port activity, both commercial and tourist.

Large crops of coffee, cotton, corn, sesame, sugar cane and cocoa can be found, as well as good production of cattle and oil.
